Having
heard of the charity Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice over
supper with friends, Malcolm Wilkinson was appalled to learn
that there is no children's hospice within close proximity
of our area (South Yorkshire/North Nottinghamshire).
Malcolm decided to hold a private fundraising barbecue for
friends and family, and they managed to raise a staggering
£4,025 for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.
Malcolm Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Moody plc, was so impressed
by the charity's work and the interest it created, he suggested
it as the preferred charity for the company. All employees
will back it up, and the charity has now been officially adopted
by the Retford-based company Moody plc.
In the months to come, employees of Moody plc will organize
various events to raise more money for Bluebell Wood Children's
Hospice, and for every pound they raise, Moody plc will donate
a pound.
Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice was founded in 1998, and
need to raise a total of £4 million to build and equip
the hospice, and a further £1.6 million for running
costs each year. There is no Government support available,
so every penny has to be raised through charitable giving.
The charity has received fantastic support from local companies,
schools and individuals, and is now very close to the £2
million mark.
With the plans drawn up, the charity is currently waiting
for the planning permission and hopes to be able to start
the building of this essential facility early next year.
The Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice will provide care and
support, free of charge, to children with life limiting disorders
and terminal illnesses, and to their families. There are currently
over 300 children in the area who will have the use of the
hospice.
