Moody
Fastpack has recently installed additional bottle accumulation
conveyors at Young & Co's brewery at Wandsworth in
London.
The project is part of Moody Fastpack’s 'Performance
in Partnership' programme whereby existing production
line performance is evaluated and cost-effective improvements
considered. As part of this initiative, a detailed line auditing
procedure is implemented and a comprehensive action plan
developed with a focus of improving the efficiency of the
client's production facility. The continual improvement
plan is very much a team effort working in close partnership
to identify causes and solutions to harmonise the production
flow.
Following an extensive line audit at Young's by the
Moody Fastpack team, a detailed evaluation process highlighted
certain areas of increased accumulation requirement and control
system improvement.

This requirement was part of an ongoing packaging development
plan and Moody Fastpack supplied both new conveyors and extensive
modifications and remodeling of certain existing conveyor
sections. The scope of supply incorporated the latest control
system developments utilising modulating speed control. The
Young's production and engineering teams were an integral
part of the team partnership concept and added considerable
value to the end result.
Moody Fastpack's Technical Manager Ralph Read managed
the project and commented, 'With all Clients recognising
the need to make their assets work forever harder, we feel
our 'Performance in Partnership' initiative
provides considerable added value and can significantly improve
production efficiencies. Our plan involves extensive dialogue
with our partners to review and discuss at all levels of
the operation. We can also bring great expertise to the training
and personnel issues of our client’s operation.'
Mr David Gray, Chief Engineer at Young's commented,
'I have been delighted with the project, both in terms
of the consultation process and the outcomes recommended. The
Moody team worked very ffectively alongside our people,
and their combined expertise produced excellent results. Definitely
a job well done!'.
Young & Co's Brewery handles a large variety
of bottle sizes and profiles in many different pack formats
and the modifications included empty and full bottle products.
Traditional
draught beer has been produced on the site of the Young &
Co's Brewery since 1581, which makes the Ram Brewery the
oldest site in Britain on which beer has been brewed continuously.
Today, Young's produces a great selection of award winning
beers and has some of the finest traditional and contemporary
pubs, restaurants and hotels in England.
