Over the past 10 years, Moody Systems has helped leading manufacturer Greencore
Grocery keeps its production lines rolling, producing around 150 million jars per annum
across 1,400 different product lines.
Greencore Grocery is one of the
leading manufacturers of bottled-
recipe products, producing a wide
range of both branded and customer
own-brand sauces, pickles, dressings,
condiments and soft drinks.
Operating from a 23-acre site at Selby
near York, the company employs over
600 people. Over the past 10 years,
considerable investment has been
made
and the site now boasts some
of the most modern, hygienic and
efficient production facilities in the UK.
During those 10 years, Moody Systems
has worked on a range of projects –
from relatively small hot water
systems, to the design, build and
installation
of massive stainless
steel tubular heating systems.
Moody Systems managing director
Adam Archer says "Over the past
decade we have developed a close
working relationship which enables
us to respond quickly to Greencore's requests for support, as well as provide
technically superior solutions to their
requirements for developing
processing systems which deliver
the level of service they and their
market-leading customers world
wide demand."
Major projects have generally
involved the replacement of
autoclaves with tubular heaters.
But in addition, when the site was
flooded during the winter of 2000,
Moody were responsible for
dismantling the majority of the plant
and equipment
in the production
areas, transporting it to the Retford
workshop, decontaminating and
repairing it, and then re-assembling
and re-commissioning it on site.
"This was all done over the Christmas
and New Year period and took around
three weeks," recalls Adam.
Commenting on the relationship with
Moody Systems, Ian Parry of Greencore Grocery said "Greencore
Selby has had a long term relationship
with Moody which has successfully
developed the site to what it is today.
We have some new exciting joint
projects being developed which I
am confident will strengthen our
successes."
The site has achieved the prestigious
AIB accreditation being placed in the
'superior' category. Other notable
successes include being recognised
as a
Tesco Blue Site and achieving BRC
Grade A. Soil Association accreditation
has
also been granted, which allows for
the production of Organic lines on site.
Greencore Grocery produces around
150 million jars per annum across
1,400 different product lines,
spanning seven distinct categories.
The company supplies every major UK
retailer and has a thriving export trade,
supplying to
over
21 countries
overseas.
